What is my approach?

As a teacher specializing in structured literacy, I work with students to become confident and proficient readers, equipping them with essential skills for academic success and lifelong learning. Using an Orton Gillngham framework, I design and implement individualized reading instruction plans tailored to each student's unique needs and learning styles. Each lesson will have:

• Evidence-based strategies and specialized interventions that have been proven effective for students with Dyslexia.

• Use initial and ongoing error analysis to identify the student's specific reading difficulties or challenges and plan instruction.

• Develop and strengthen phonological awareness skills, such as identifying and manipulating sounds in words, which are often challenging for students with Dyslexia.

• Provide explicit and systematic phonics instruction to help students understand letter-sound relationships.

• Incorporate multisensory teaching methods that simultaneously engage multiple senses (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to reinforce learning and memory retention.

This approach is efficient for students with Dyslexia, as it helps strengthen neural connections and supports information processing. I will simultaneously work on reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. These skills must be part of the intervention to get our students to improve word recognition skills and achieve the ultimate goal: not just reading the text but understanding what they read. I will regularly monitor a student's progress through ongoing assessments and data analysis and adjust instruction based on their performance to ensure continuous growth and mastery of reading skills.
